  • Indonesian Authors Book List 📚🇮🇩🌏✍️🌴 1. Home by Leila S. Chudori is a powerful historical novel that explores exile, identity, and political trauma through the intertwined lives of Indonesian exiles in Paris and their struggle to return home during the Suharto regime. 2. Apple and Knife by Intan Paramaditha is a fierce and unsettling collection of feminist horror short stories that reimagine myths and fairytales through brutal, supernatural twists to explore the power, violence, and agency of women in contemporary Indonesia 3. Indigenous Species by Khairani Barokka is a haunting, poetic narrative that follows a kidnapped girl journeying through an ecologically devastated Indonesian jungle, intertwining themes of environmental destruction, indigenous identity, and resilience, all enhanced by glitch-inspired artwork and accessible, multimodal design. 4. The Rainbow Troops by Andrea Hirata is a heartwarming, semi‑autobiographical novel that tells the inspiring story of Ikal and his classmates—the “Rainbow Troops”—who, guided by two devoted teachers, fight poverty, corrupt officials, and systemic neglect to keep their tiny village school alive on the Indonesian island of Belitong. #HomeByLeilaChudori #LeilaChudori #AppleAndKnife #IntanParamaditha #IndigenousSpecies #KhairaniBarokka #TheRainbowTroops #AndreaHirata #IndonesianLiterature #SoutheastAsianVoices #FeministFiction #EcoPoetry #PoliticalExile #ComingOfAge #LiteraryFiction #GlobalVoices #TranslatedBooks #WomenWriters #SocialJusticeLit #MagicalRealism
  • Kinsale is one of those places that seems to come up again and again when you ask friends for travel tips in Ireland. “You have to go to Kinsale,” they say, eyes lighting up. Once we arrived, I can say it lived up to the hype. Kinsale is postcard-perfect. This town by the sea, with its colorful shopfronts, winding cobbled streets, and old world charm, will steal your heart. It’s also renowned for its food and we certainly enjoyed finding the perfect plate of fresh-caught fish and delicious craft mead cocktails. It’s not to be missed! #Kinsale #VisitKinsale #KinsaleIreland #DiscoverIreland #IrelandTravel #SouthernCoast #IrishHarbour #SeafoodDelight #CharlesFort #ScillyWalk #CoastalChic #WanderlustIreland #TravelGram #HiddenGems #ColorfulStreets #MaritimeHeritage #AdventureAwaits #adventurousambles #walkingtheworldswonders #foodieireland #foodies #mead #seafood #seaside
  • Our walk around La Isla Taquile in Lake Titicaca felt like wandering through a living postcard. From the dock, a stone-paved walkway climbs steadily through terraced fields, where farmers work the land as their ancestors did and women weave vivid belts. The lake glitters below, its silence broken only by birds and the soft wind off the water. Reaching the main square, we encountered villagers gathered in traditional dress, their bright reds and deep blacks swirling as they performed a folk dance to the beat of hand drums and flutes. The square buzzed with laughter and music, framed by stone buildings, a small church, and cafés where travelers sip coca tea and watch island life unfold. On Taquile, time moves to its own traditional, colorful rhythm. #adventurousambles #walkingtheworldswonders

  • Visiting Blarney Castle is a must for anyone traveling to Ireland, not just for the legendary Blarney Stone, but also for the lush, meandering grounds just beyond the battlements. After kissing the Blarney Stone, we spent several lovely hours just wandering through the winding trails of the 60 acre estate. The grounds are a blend of stunning manicured gardens and wild, untamed spaces full of natural beauty. One of our favorite spots was the Poison Garden, home to a fascinating (and slightly eerie) collection of toxic plants, each with its own cautionary tale. We also loved the Rock Close-a mystical corner of the estate scattered with ancient druidic stones, a witch’s kitchen, and the famous Wishing Steps, said to grant your heart’s desire if you walk them backward with your eyes closed. Ambling through the gardens proves that the magic of Blarney is as much in the journey as it is in the kiss. 📍 Address

  • We took a walk starting in the heart of downtown Portland at Pioneer Courthouse Square. Known as the city’s “living room,” its brick steps curve around open space often filled with food carts, buskers, and locals enjoying coffee. From here, we headed north along SW Broadway, watching the sleek modern storefronts slowly give way to the historic charm of the Pearl District. The Pearl District, once a hub of railyards and manufacturing, is now one of the city’s most stylish neighborhoods, known for its art galleries, designer boutiques, and a thriving restaurant scene. Crossing Burnside, we make a detour into Powell’s City of Books, the world’s largest independent bookstore, where each color-coded room is a world of its own (and where we easily added an hour or so happily browsing the shelves.) Be sure to check out The Rare Book Room, a quiet, wood-paneled sanctuary on the store’s top floor that houses some of the shop’s most unique and valuable treasures, like signed first editions, antiquarian volumes dating back centuries, collectible literature, fine bindings, and out-of-print gems. After a little literary indulgence, we stepped outside to encounter a man walking his llama, Cesar! Just a little nod to Portland’s quirky and unconventional spirit. Keep Portland Weird! We ended with a light lunch at Deschutes Brewery & Public House, a Pearl District staple known for hearty Northwest fare and craft beers brewed on-site. All in all, a lovely day spent ambling through downtown Portland. #PortlandTravel #PearlDistrictPDX #PowellsCityOfBooks #PioneerCourthouseSquare #TravelPortland #PDXAdventures #ExplorePDX #VisitPortland #PortlandLife #PacificNorthwestTravel #UrbanExplorationPDX #FoodieInPortland #DeschutesBrewery #PDXWalkingTour #CityWalks #PortlandVibes #DiscoverPortland #PortlandLove #PNWTravel #PDXCulture #adventurousambles
